I made this scrapbook page using their very cute image called "Martial Arts Boy" . Isn't he precious? I thought it was perfect to incorporate him in the title.

This layout is long overdue.  This TaeKwonDo Black Belt award was in December of 2003! That was almost 12 years ago and believe it or not, I stopped scrapbooking at the time because after so many belts, I just had no idea how to continue.  I'm a chronological scrapper, so I just had to get this page done before continuing.  When I saw the image from our sponsor this week, I thought of how this might work and just ran with it :-) I'm happy with the way it came out although it's not quite what I had envisioned.

The Ying Yang sign, trophy and letters were all cut using my Cricut Explore.  As were the dragon and the ninja stars.  On the second pic, you can better see the lil Martial Arts boy which I cut at 3"

Maybe now that this hurdle is over, I can continue with my son's scrapbook.  I look at this photo and wonder where the last 12 years have gone to.  I really need to get with the program and catch up.  I need to catch up on my daughter's too :-) I also stopped at her Black Belt testing.  Of course, the other problem is that I'm having a blast making cards and there are just so many hours in one day :-)

Summer Fun at Crafty Gals Corner ~ Challenge # 22

Hi bloggie friends.  Welcome back to my blog.

It's Wednesday and that means that we have a new challenge for you at Crafty Gals Corner.  Our challenge this week is all about Summer Fun.  After the awful winter we had, I think that we are all ready for some summer fun.  I know I can't wait to hit the beach.  I'm one of those people that could quite happily make a career out of beach bumbing :-)

For my project this week, I used of Eureka Stamps digital images called "Legend of the Sand Dollar".

When I saw this image, I knew that my project this week would be a scrapbook page.  Two years ago, we went to the Bahamas for our summer vacation and my son found a real live sand dollar while sitting at the seashore.

HIMCR01NSD Challenge ~ Scrapbook Page

Good morning everyone and Happy National Scrapbooking Day!  We are celebrating this occasion at Hiding in My Craft Room by providing you with a project every hour, on the hour till 2:00 pm CST! That's right, there will be 5 projects in total and I hope that you will join in the fun!  We have various sponsors and fun prizes for you.

So let's get this party started :-)

Our first challenge for you today is to make a scrapbook page.  It can be a one page or a double page layout and it can be about anything you want.

I made this double page layout of my son's high school graduation last year.  Yes, I know I'm running a little behind.  Actually I'm running VERY behind, something like 6 years!  I somehow never seem to find time to scrapbook, but when I do, I'm reminded of how much I enjoy it!  I really need to put some time aside and get on with it :-)

More Swim with the Dolphins L/O's

In these layouts, I used stickers, stamps and my cricut. I used the LIAB cartridge to make the cuts for the seaweed and the dolphins and then by using the negative forms, I was able to ink the images onto my paper. I had fun making these layouts ~ totally different from the previous set but I think they came out pretty.

Band Banquet Layout

I've been wanting to use my large music notes punch for a little while now and when I found this picture of the band banquet I knew it would be perfect! The title was cut using MS Seasonal Cake Art. The ribbon was threaded through the mat but using the MS ribbon punch. I love this paper from Making Memories. You can't quite tell from the pic, but each little dot, on the sides of the black stripes, is shiny. I added two silver flourish brads on the pic as well as silver pearls on the title and on the ribbon.

Airbus A380 Layout

While in Holland last summer, we were fortunate to watch the A380 Airbus fly into Schipohl airport. It was doing a test run, to see if the runways, gates, luggage belts, etc. were all compatible. It is the largest commercial aircraft in the world today, with a capacity to carry 525 passengers. My husband and son were very impressed with this aircraft, but what struck me the most was how quiet it actually flies. When it flew right over our heads, I expected this thunderous roar considering it's size, but it was just a quiet buzz. Very impressive indeed! On this layout, I used the MS punch to cut the grass and the Pooh Font cartrige to cut the letters.

Kaag Eiland

What a wonderful brunch we had - 12" pancakes :) loaded with the most delicious fruit, cream and english syrup! All this served at a very quaint little restaurant on Kaag Eiland. We were also very fortunate that we had wonderful weather and were able to enjoy this feast on the deck of the restaurant that sits over the water. We had little guests in the form of little brown birds that came right up next to us and took little bits of the pancakes from our fingers. These pancakes were accompanied by delicious dutch coffee and/or chocolate milk. So for this layout, I figured that the image from A Child's Year would be very appropriate. As you can see I kept the layout very simple - I definately wanted the focal point to be those yummy pancakes :-)

Noah's Ark 2

Here are the last two pages of Noah's Ark. It has 3 different levels inside. On the bottom is where you find all the animals. The second level also has animals but it also has various niches with the various stories from the Bible. It was very interesting to visit this Ark and a once a in lifetime experience.

Most of my pictures are 4" x 6". In order to make them all fit, I sometimes crop them to 3.5" x 5" and use the Creative Memories stencils to cut them into various shapes like the oval you see above.

Noah's Ark 1

During our vacation in Holland, we went to see Noah's Ark. This Ark was build by a Dutch guy with the aid of his family. It was on display at various cities during the summer and we were lucky enough to be close enough to one of the places to go take a look.

The animals are cut using the Animal Kingdom and Create a Critter cartridges. The font, I believe, is from the Pooh Font Cartridge. I also had a few cute baby animal buttons, so after removing the shanks, I pop-dotted them on the layout. I will share the last two pages with you tomorrow.

Bridges Layouts

We had a wonderful brunch at the Bridge Restaurant. It is set right over one of the main highways. There are various restaurants and little stores in this complex.

The "People Bridge", as we call it, is just amazing. When you look from afar, it looks just like any regular bridge, a walkway over the highway so to speak. As you get closer and closer, the various panels on the bridge actually turn into pictures of people. It really is something to see and we were lucky to have been able to take the pictures at the right time and at the right speed. The various little heads I cut out from the Paper Doll Dress Up cartridge and used my Peachy Keen stamps for their little faces.

Wold Cup Layout

While we were in Holland last summer, we experienced the euphoria first hand of being involved in the World Cup Finals. Holland played against Spain, and although Spain won, you could not keep the Dutch party spirit down. We had a wonderful evening watching the game and cheering for the Dutch. Ironically, although we were in Holland, we had New York Pizza for dinner :-).

Again another very simple layout. The little soccer dude you see on the top right hand corner of the last page is a digi stamp from Digital Delights.

Greenland Layout

I don't have any cards to share with you right now, so I'm going to share some layouts in the next few days. This is a layout of some photos my son took while flying over Greenland en route from Amsterdam to Houston. I couldn't believe how beautifully he was able to capture these scenes. You'll see that I'm a very simple scrapper - not too many embellishments and the reason for this is that I more often than not have a gazillion photos per page. Since I want the focus to be on the photos, I tend to keep the layouts pretty simple. The title was cut using my cricut and I added crystal snow to give it the "frosty" look. I can't remember who the paper is by, but I know you will be able to find at Michaels in the loose cardstock section.

Dolphin Swim - 2-page Layout

We went to Fort Lauderdale for our annual beach vacation. What a wonderful time we had, and as usual the 10 days we spent there were just too darn short. While there, we drove to Miami and my son went swimming with the dolphins at the Miami Seaquarium. Here is my two page layout. I have others that I'm still working on. For these, I used Design Studio to weld the dolphins into a circle. The dolphins are from the 'Life is a Beach' cartridge and the title is from 'MS Seasonal Cake Art'. I seem to use my cake cartridges more for my scrapbooking and card making than for decorating cakes lol - but then the former are non-fattening :-)

Cheese Shop Layout

I've been working on our summer vacation 2010 scrapbook for my son. I don't have several scrapbooks for him, I do one continuous one chronologically. I started with the day he was born and everything just follows, all the school years, all the holidays, all the trips, they all follow in date order. I'm now starting his 5th album. Since this layout, of one of the many cheese stores we visited, came out really cute, at least I think so lol, I thought I would share it with you. I'm what I call a simple scrapper. Maybe it's because I'm so behind, but I tend to just add a border here and there, add a few embellies and call it done. I will select a few more layouts from our trip to share with you. I don't normally use digi stamps, in fact I think these are the first, but when I saw these little Dutch guys, I just had to have them. I got them from Digital Delights by Louby Loo. She has some really cute stuff. Out of 507 photos that I took while in Holland, I chose 306 to scrapbook so you know that this is going to be a colossal project :-) and I'm looking forward to it! I will also be working on a few other projects - graduation announcements/invitations and some cards for birthdays. March is coming up and it is my busiest month as far as birthdays go. I'd love to hear from you, so any comments are greatly appreciated!
