Luau Wedding

Hello and welcome back to my little piece of blog land.

The daughter of a very good friend of mine recently got married. The wonderful young couple got married in Hawaii and my friend had a Luau wedding reception for them at her house.

Here are a few things I made ...

First their gift ...

It's a wedding towel cake. Do you think I made it tropical enough :-)

It is made up of 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels and 4 washcloths. The ribbon, starfish, flowers and netting were all purchased at Michaels.

Next I made the card with their gift in mind.  I used a file from Simply Crafty SVGs, called Hanging Towel Wedding Card, and made this card. You can find the SVG file HERE.

Isn't it cute? I'm a creature of habit, so my wedding cards are always in the tones of white, pearl, silver and gold, so when I started this card using the navy and white colour combo, I wasn't too sure about the result, but I think it worked out perfectly. What do you all think?

The last thing I made were these very delicious strawberry cupcakes and pineapple cupcakes. And, yes, they were delicious, even if I say so myself :-) I'm definitely using these two recipes again in future. My friend added the fun pineapple and strawberry picks and voila, a fun plate of cupcakes on the dessert table.

HIMCR Challenge # 155 - Wedding

Happy Saturday everyone! It's time for our next challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room!

Wedding Theme

And here is my project using their already coloured in image called Happy Couple.

 

I used a brick wall embossing folder from Sizzix. The I cut the arched window with a die from Marianne Creatables. I went over the brick wall and the arch with Momento Desert Sand ink.

I punched out a few flowers, leaves and butterflies and assembled them all on the card.

 

I used the Happy Couple image from The Paper Shelter on the inside of my card.  I added a couple of fancy corners.  These are part of the Spellbinders - Samantha Walker collection called Lace Hearts. I added a couple of butterflies to finish it off.

 

Here you can see the image in more detail.  I printed it and cut it at 3".  I also added a little bling to her veil with my Clear Star Gelly Roll pen.  You just can't have a bride without bling! :-)

 

 

On the other side, I cut an extra arch to finish the opening nicely and stamped a sentiment from a GinaK stamp set duo.

 

Just wanted to let you know where I got the inspiration for my card this week.  I was looking through my wedding photo album and saw this photo and immediately knew what my next wedding card was going to look like.  It worked too :-)  I love it when an idea that forms in my head looks good when put on paper :-)  This photo was taken during our photo session at Rhodes Park in Johannesburg, South Africa.  I can't believe this was 28 and half years ago!

CardzTV Challenge # 3 - Create a Wedding Card

Happy Friday everyone.  I hope you are having a great start to a great weekend!

 

 

Our challenge at CardzTV today is to create a wedding card, but you have to use Hearts, Love Birds or Wedding Bells.  How fun is that? 

 

Here is what I did for my project ..

I used a Spellbinders heart and stamped my image on it and coloured it with copic markers. The stamps is called At the Alter and is by Wild Rose Studio.  The BG paper was a gift from the Card Making Magazine that I used to get from England.

I used some flowers from Recollections and Kaiser Crafts to make the embellishment on the ribbon. The lacy border was cut with a MS punch.  My little doves are stickers from Jolee's Boutique.

For my sentiment, I used a stamp from the CardzTV stamp set called Congratulations.

 

 

Let me tell you that this is one of those "go to" sets.  It has a variety of celebrations, so you will never find yourself  without a "Congratulations" sentiment :-)  Also remember, that Mary's stamps are clear photopolymer stamps that stamp beautifully every time using your favourite inks.

 

For the inside of my card, I used a sentiment from my stash, a couple more doves, and some wedding rings to give it a little more interest.  These were cut using a die from Marianne Designs.

Wedding Card - Bildmalarna DT Call

Welcome back crafty friends. I'm going to share with you a card that I made for a wedding using a stamp from Bildmalarna.  I love their stamps, they are all so cute and stamp beautifully.

 

I love this music note paper. I've had it for a while just waiting for the perfect card, and since this couple is dancing, I thought it would be perfect :-)  The rose paper was a gift from Cardmaking Magazine that I used to receive from England.  I added some pretty flowers to complement the card and a little bow with a pearl heart for the finishing touch.  For this card, I followed the sketch from Bildmalarna - I'm going to enter this card in their DT call this month.

 

For the inside, I printed the sentiment onto ivory cardstock and stamped a rose. I don't like to put paper flowers on the inside of my cards because they become too bulky in the mail. The wedding rings were cut using a die from Marianne Designs.

Wedding Card for my daughter

Hello my crafty friends.  I can't believe it's been over a month since I last posted on my blog.  I don't really have an excuse other than that I had a very busy month filled with birthdays, Easter, a wedding and a great visit with my SIL who lives in Holland.  Oh what fun we all had!  Did I mention that my birthday this year fell on Easter Sunday?  It was such a wonderful day spent with my family.

Well, in order to get back into blogging again, I thought I would begin with a post of the wedding card I made for my daughter. Her colours were blue, white and silver - absolutely beautiful combination. So without further ado, here it is ...

 I used a Marianne creatable for the mat and the doily cuts. The image is a Whimsy Wee stamp that I coloured in with my copic markers. Then went over the flowers with my stardust glitter pen to add some sparkle.  I also placed a tiny rhinestone flower in the centre of the flowers in her hair, bouquet and on his label and the one in his hand.

 

Since my daughter's wedding was beach themed, I added the silver sea shell amongst the flower spray on the left bottom corner.  I was so happy to have found these blue flowers, it matched perfectly with the papers.  They are from Paper Studio and Recollections. I also added a couple of rhinestone flourishes to give it a little bit extra pizazz.

 I must admit that I was really happy with the way it came out and my daughter love it too.  I will post the invitations we made soon.  Since it was a combined effort, we decided to put them on both of our blogs :)

Wedding Card

A couple of years ago, these cards were making the highlights on the Cricut Message Board. I've always liked them but until today, I hadn't tried to make you. I used Plantin Schooolbook, MS Seasonal Cake Art and Wedding Solutions cartridges to make this card. I like the way this card turned out, just not too sure how to include the message for the happy couple on the inside ... :-)

Wedding Anniversary Card

While reading a blog, I saw that this lady entered a challendge of making a card without using her cricut. Gasp! Not use the cricut? I don't think I could, but I do love a challendge and don't normally enter any, so I just challendged myself. So here is the result, this card for the wedding anniversary of a couple that are just perfect for each other. Of course the good thing was that I got to play with my new toy - the Frames Stamp Set and Punch from StampinUp :-)

Fall Wedding Towel Cake

As promised, here is the picture of a wedding towel cake I made for a Fall bridal shower. The bride's color theme for her bathroom is chocolate brown and gold. So in keeping with the whole theme, it has chocolate brown and gold towels, it has the fall flowers and of course some yummy ferrore roche chocolates.

This 'cake' is made from 3 bath towels (bottom tier), 3 handtowels (middle tier) and two face cloths (top swiss jelly roll).

I had a lot of fun putting it all together. Thanks for looking and please leave me some comments on what you think.
