It was my daughter's birthday last week and since she loves everything to do with the sea, I created this easel card for her.

When closed for mailing, this card measures 5.5" x 5.5".  There is a little bulk to it with the sea shells but since I hand delivered it, it was not a problem.  If I had planned on mailing it, I would have used sea shell dies instead of using the real small shells.

Retirement Card

Hello everyone and welcome back.  After 50 years plus of working, hubby finally retired 😀  Since he loves the beach and everything tropical, I thought this card would be perfect for him, and yes he did love it.  Told me that all that was missing was a cold beer to which I replied that it could be easily arranged 😀

To make this card, I used the following crafty products:

After 41 years of marriage, we have gone thru many phases of life together and this is a new one for us.  It's an adjustment but a fun one!

Halloween Wizard Gnome

Circle Slatted Card

Hello everyone.  I made this birthday card for my son's girlfriend. I love playing with these slatted & eclipse dies from Divinity Designs. For this card, I used the Circle one.  I think that it's such a lovely way to use up your pretty papers.

Because I wanted to have both birds as part of the slatted image, the circle had to be placed a little higher up on the card, leaving a bit of empty space at the bottom.  In order to fill up this extra space, I used the Celebrate die, from Karen Burniston, and cut it out of both fuchsia and silver cardstocks so I could make a slight shadow on the word.

The image is from a sheet from Marianne Designs called Country Flowers.

It is a 6 x 6 inch square image.  I cut it to 5" x 5" so it would fit on this 5.5" square card.

The silver mat is 5.25" x 5.25".

I used the Kat Scrappiness - Happy Birthday w/Shadow die and the Pin Numbers die from Marianne Design to create the elements on the inside.  I finished it off by cutting a few photo corners using a very old eK punch.

The Paper Shelter #601 ~ Hunky Dunky Birthday :-)

Team A - our challenge this week is 

~ Summer Activities ~

I made this card, using the Lifeguard on Duty digi, with somone special in mind.  Someone who will appreciate a Hunky Dunky for her birthday 😀

Card base is a file from Silhouette, which I sized to be a 5.5" square card. To make my beach scene, I used several dies, most from Marianne Design.  These are Lifeguard House, Sandy Path, and Beach Houses.  I also used the Tropical Trees Background die set from Sunny Studio.  The stamped greeting is from the Mini Labels stamp set, also by Marianne Design.

Here is a close up of this cutie, which I cut out twice and used foam squares to adhere the two layers together. This adds a little dimension but not too much bulk as this is being mailed overseas.

I added a small palm tree to the inside which left me plenty of space of write my message. All cardstocks were bits and pieces from my scraps drawers.

Happy Father's Day

 Happy Father's Day to all the wonderful dads!  I hope you all had a fantabulous day and were spoilt rotten 😀

Today I'm sharing the card I made for hubby to celebrate what an awesome dad he is and has always been.

One of hubby's hobbies is painting.  He is very creative and his paintings are beautiful.  I have posted a couple at the bottom of this post, in case you want to take a peek. So, knowing how much he loves to paint, I created this card for him using some of the new dies that I just received from Marianne Design, called Papercraft Accessories.

For my painter I chose a cute Hedgehog, also from Marianne Design, and proceeded to add all the bits and pieces.  The greeting was made using the Silhouette, print and cut feature.

For the painting on the easel, I used an image that I got from Google, reduced it in size, printed it on photo paper and then die cut it using one of the dies that comes in this set.  The background is from a cutting sheet called Eline's Flower Garden Backgrounds from Marianne Design.

On the inside, I added a few left over crayons. The sentiment is computer generated.

This card turned out to be 8.25" x 4" in order to accommodate the pre printed background.

Now as promised, here are a few art pieces that hubby painted and currently decorate our home.

This one was painted from a photo we took in Ferragudo in Algave, Portugal.

This one was painted just for fun.

This was a painting hubby did on our son's room when we moved to our current home.  My son was young at the time and everything was about Spiderman. 😀  This created the illusion of having Spiderman coming in thru one window, attaching the web to the ceiling and flying out the window of the other window on the other side of the room.

The following is not the best of pics, but you get an idea of how hubby painted our daughter's room to match her bedding.  It was gorgeous! It went all the way around the room and he even painted a few tiki huts on the other wall.  By the time we moved homes, it turned out to be a great selling point.  The family who bought our home had a young teen girl who fell in love with the room :-)

And now you understand why I say that both our kids got their artistic flair from their dad, because I can't paint worth diddly!  I shared my son's talent for painting miniature models in a post not too long ago (click here if you'd like to see it), and you should see how my daughter turned my granddaughter's room into an under-the-sea fantasy and my grandson's room into an outerspace adventure.  If  I can get a pic of their rooms, I will come back and edit this post.

The Paper Shelter #599 ~ Sweet Birthday Wishes

Team A - our challenge this week is 

~ Chocolate ~

 I used the Yummy digi from The Paper Shelter for the main part of this card.  For the side steps, I cut out a bunch of chocolate, cookies and bonbons and adhered them to the card.

Here is a close up of this Yummy dessert, which was printed on photo paper.

I used the following dies to create the chocolate, bonbons and cookies, all from Marianne Design:

 Chocolates, Chocolate Bar, and Cookie Jar

On the back, I cut a white mat to write my messge, and adhered some left over chocolate pieces to add a little interest.

I resized this card to be a 6.5" x 5" card, so it fits perfectly into an A7 envelope.  With all the chocolates and cookies I stuffed in it, it has a little bit of bulk to it.  After all there is no such thing as too much chocolate, right?  Anyway, since I'm going to hand deliver it, it's not a problem.  After putting this card together, I was left with the biggest craving for chocolate, so guess what I did after taking all the pics ... yes, you guessed it ... I ate the props 😂😂
