Happy 4th of July Treat Box

to all my American family and friends.

I made 24 of these treat boxes for hubby's work, but forgot to take pics.  Fortunately, hubby took one and this is it friends 😀

I used a file from Silhouette to make this "fry box" with Uncle Sam on it.

Wishing you all day filled with fun.  Stay safe everyone!

4th July Treats

Hello friends. I just realiased that I forgot to share the cute treat boxes I made for hubby's work to celebrate the 4th of July.  So as the saying goes ... better late than never 😀

I made these using a Silhouette cut file. Soooo cute!  All cardstock and papers were purchased at Hobby Lobby.  I filled them with various sweets all wrapped in red, white and blue.  Everyone liked them, so mission accomplished 😀

Happy 4th of July!

to all my American friends!  I'd like to share the treat boxes I made for our 4th of July celebrations.

I made 28 of Uncle Sam's Treat hats. I purchased the SVG from Dreaming Tree.

I got a variety of candy, all in red, white and blue to match the celebratory colours :-)
These included mints, buttermints and Tootsie Rolls.

I started by making the 8 for our family ...

... and made 20 more for hubby's work :-) They enjoyed them very much so it was well worth the time it took to put them together. The kids and grandkids enjoyed theirs too :-)

Proudly May She Wave

Good morning all and to all my
American friends ...

We live close enough to the Pearland High School where the festivities take place followed by fireworks. So we get together with our children and grandchildren, enjoy a barbecue and then at night we all sit outside together with neighbours and their families and watch the fireworks. This has become our 4th of July tradition for the last 10 years. Today, though we are crossing fingers that the weather cooperates because we've been having heavy downpours since last night as a pressure system moves through.  According to the weatherman, it's all supposed to move out by mid afternoon, so there is hope yet 😄

4th of July Card at DRU with Lena

Hello crafting friends and welcome back. It's my turn today to share a card at the Dies R Us Inspirational blog.  I chose to work a little ahead and made this Happy 4th of July card.

I began by cutting my card base out of cherry red card stock. This card measures 5.5" x 5.5"

Using the America Frame and the Eagle dies from Amy Designs, I made my cuts out of dark blue card stock. I took the middle cut out piece from the frame die and embossed with a Swiss Dots embossing folder. Then I took my ribbon, wrapped it around this cut out and glued the whole thing back into the middle of the die.

Next I took all the pieces that were left on the eagle die and paper pieced them back into my eagle cut. This makes for a more solid image. While getting all the little pieces, I coloured the beak yellow. I used a piece of tape on the back of the eagle to keep all the little cut outs in place.

I cut out two oval mats using the Spellbinders Large Oval dies, stacked them and used them to frame my eagle.

I kept the inside of the card pretty simple. I just stamped the greeting, using Cardz TV's All American Greetings stamp set, and added a couple of stars.

I've been asked many times how I store my cards, so here is a quick share.

Most of my cards are either 6.5" x 5" or 5.5" x 5.5". I purchase clear poly bags which are slightly bigger to accommodate the embellishments.  I always place a matching envelope together with the card in the bag. These bags allow me to see the card, keep it clean and  protected, and I always have the envelope ready to address.

I have two of card storage boxes with dividers. I place my cards in them and put them on the shelf ready to use.  I have quite a few cards for Christmas, Female and Male birthdays.  These get stored in a different box as there are too many of them to place in these boxes.

Now for a quick recap of the dies I used:

I hope I was able to inspire you to use your dies, create a project, and come play along at the Dies R Us Challenge Blog for your chance to win a gift voucher to the Dies R Us Store.  A new challenge begins on the first and fifteenth of every month.  Be sure to Follow Us on Facebook too.

4th of July Firecracker

Good morning all.  Yesterday, I told you how much I love my Cricut Explore.  Today, I have to tell you how much I love my Silhouette.  I'm very lucky to have them both.  The card I'm sharing with you today was done using the Silhouette. I love all the different cards and images you can get from their store, especially the shaped cards.

From the pics above, you can see that the Silhouette also cuts beautifully.  I have had several people ask me what I think of both machines and which one I recommend.  That is very difficult for me because I love them both.  I find that the cricut is able to make more intricate cuts, it's quieter and user friendly.  The silhouette has a more sophisticated design program and allows you to do a lot more, but for me, not being very computer savvy in the first place, it is a little more difficult to use.  In the end I find that these two machines compliment each other, rather than compete against each other. Like I said, I love them both!

Supplies used for this card:

Silhouette Design # 60934
Red Cardstock - GinaK. - Cherry Red
White & Blue Cardstock ~ Paper Studio
Gold card stock - from scraps stash
Sentiment stamp ~ Cardz TV - Happy Days stamp set

I will be back tomorrow with a new challenge at Hiding in My Craft Room.
Thank you so much for stopping by and for all the lovely comments. I do appreciate each and every one of them!

Hugs,

Mickey & Minnie Celebrate the 4th of July :-)

Hi bloggie friends.

Today I would like to share with you a card I made for my little granddaughter for the 4th of July.  She is the first little American born in our family.  A little fun info to share with you about my family ~ I'm Portuguese, my hubby is Dutch. Our kids are South African (born). My brother is also Portuguese, his wife is British and my little nephew is Canadian (born).  My other SIL is Dutch.  Now my daughter is married to an American and my little granddaughter is also an American, a real Texas sweetheart :-)  It's always fun when we meet friends for the first time and they ask "Where y'all from?"  :-)

Anyway, back to my card ...

I love my Cricut Explore!  I made this center panel card using the Print 'n Cut feature.  Do you see how well all the colours match?  I could have cut the bunting and the flag in layers, but I didn't have any matching card stock so decided to print it all.  I love using my Disney cuts again. No more fussing with itty bitty little pieces like the tongues and eyes.  Love, love, love my Cricut Explore! :-)  It cuts beautifully.  Just look at how it cut those thin little mouse tails! I used the Mickey and Friends cartridge to cut Mickey and Minnie, and the Independence Day cartridge for the flag and the bunting.

Other supplies used:

Red card stock ~ GinaK.'s - Cherry Red
Embossing folder ~ Cuttlebug - Christmas Stars
Greeting stamp ~ Cardz TV - Happy Days Stamp Set

I will be back tomorrow to share another 4th of July card with you.

Till then,
Happy Crafting.

Hugs,
