Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round ~ O Holy Night

Hello and welcome to this month's Christmas challenge at
 Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Our inspiration song for August's challenge is 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅯 O Holy Night 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅯.  This means that you can use any verse, phrase or word in the song to create your Christmas project.  Here are the lyrics of this song for your inspiration

~ O Holy Night ~
O holy night, the stars are brightly shining,
It is the night of the dear Saviour’s birth;
Long lay the world in sin and error pining,
'Till he appeared and the soul felt its worth.
A thrill of hope the weary world rejoices,
For yonder breaks a new and glorious morn;
Chorus
Fall on your knees, Oh hear the angel voices!
O night divine! O night when Christ was born.
O night, O holy night, O night divine.
Led by the light of Faith serenely beaming;
With glowing hearts by his cradle we stand:
So, led by light of a star sweetly gleaming,
Here come the wise men from Orient land,
The King of Kings lay thus in lowly manger,
In all our trials born to be our friend;
Chorus
He knows our need, To our weakness no stranger!
Behold your King! Before Him lowly bend!
Behold your King! your King! before him bend!
Truly He taught us to love one another;
His law is Love and His gospel is Peace;
Chains shall he break, for the slave is our brother,
And in his name all oppression shall cease,
Sweet hymns of joy in grateful Chorus raise we;
Let all within us praise his Holy name!
Chorus
Christ is the Lord, then ever! ever praise we!
His pow'r and glory, evermore proclaim!
His pow'r and glory, evermore proclaim!

While browsing thru all of my Silhouette files, I found this one that I thought was just perfect for this challenge.

The other great thing about this card, is that I was able to use my larger pieces of scraps.

Here is a view from the top of the card.

And here you can see if from the side.  I love box cards. They always not only stand out, but create a beautiful 3D look.

I created a greeting panel and adhered it to the back of the card. The greeting was cut using the Merry Christmas with Shadow die from Karen Burniston. I love that this card folds flat for mailing and fits into a regular business envelope.  Once flat, there is not a lot of bulk to it, so it's an easy card to put in the mail.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Now it's your turn to make a Christmas project,  and come play along with us.  You have till the end of the month to link your project to our blog at  Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round ~ Blue Christmas

Hello and welcome to this month's Christmas challenge at
 Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Our inspiration song for July's challenge is 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅯 Blue Christmas 𝅘𝅥𝅮𝅘𝅥𝅯.  This means that you can use any verse, phrase or word in the song to create your Christmas project.  Here are the lyrics of this song for your inspiration

~ Blue Christmas ~
I'll have a blue Christmas without you
I'll be so blue just thinking about you
Decorations of red on a green Christmas tree
Won't be the same dear, if you're not here with me
And when those blue snowflakes start falling
That's when those blue memories start calling
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
You'll be doing alright
With your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas
You'll be doing all right
With your Christmas of white
But I'll have a blue, blue, blue, blue Christmas

I've been playing with some of my Dot & Do card kits.  This one is from the Snowmen kit.  I thought all the blues would be perfect for our challenge.

It takes a bit of time to get all the beautiful hobby dots in place, but I find it very relaxing.  The image consists of 4 layers which were fussy cut and adhered to each other using foam squares.

Here is a close up of the hobby dots and the very cute image.

I used the Merry Christmas w/Shadow dies, from Karen Burniston, to create the greeting on the inside of this card.

Thanks so much for stopping by.  Now it's your turn to make a Christmas project,  and come play along with us.  You have till the end of the month to link your project to our blog at  Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round ~ Bows, Gifts, Decorations

Hello and welcome to this month's Christmas challenge at
 Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Our challenge this month is Bows, Gifts, Decorations

Here is our inspiration pic ...

I created this slimline card using the All Occasion Bow from Spellbinders.

The background was embossed using the Modern Stripe Embossing Folder
by Teresa Collins.

I made it in red and white and finagled some gold in there too so it looks like there is a gold layer.

For the centre of the bow, I used a small decoupage image of pinecones and berries.  I thought this would add a little festive touch.

On the inside I used the Merry Christmas w/Shadow die set by Karen Burniston.

And that is a wrap for our Christmas crafts for 2024.  We have fun challenges for you beginning in January 2025, so I hope you come back and visit.

Now it's your turn to make a Christmas project, that falls within our challenge theme, and come play along with us.  You have till the end of the month to link your project to our blog at  Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

I wish you and yours a very Merry Christmas and a very Happy New Year!
Be Merry, have Fun, and stay Safe!

Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round ~ Reindeer/moose

Hello and welcome to this month's Christmas challenge at
 Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

Our challenge this month is Reindeer/Deer/Moose

Here is our inspiration pic ...

I've been spending some time in the evenings doing a little bit of stitching on my cards.  I love it as I find it very relaxing, but just haven't had the time to stich as much as I wanted to. I had completed this card a few nights ago, and after rummaging through my stash of Crafty Heart 3D image sets, I chose this one to finish off my card and add it to this challenge.

The stitch pattern is from the Stitch & Do Kit No. 159.  This cute layered image made me smile.  Can't blame the greedy lil guy ... that apple does look delicious, doesn't it? You can see that momma moose is thinking that she taught him better, but kids will always be kids :-)  I think I'd be a little concerned for my nose, if I was that snowman, though.  That carrot probably looks very tasty too 😁  This image is from the Christmas Mooses set.

Or maybe he's just a good boy and is just being very friendly!

On the inside I used the Merry Christmas die and the Shadow die to create my greeting.  Both are from Karen Burniston.

And that is it for today folks.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Now it's your turn to make a Christmas project, that falls within our challenge theme, and come play along with us.  You have till the end of the month to link your project to our blog at  Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round.

The Paper Shelter #609 ~ Punches / Dies!

Hello crafting friends and welcome to this week's challenge

Team A - our challenge this week is
~ Punches / Dies ~

I shared the back to school card I made for my little granddaughter in our last challenge, so today I would like to share the back to school card I made for my little grandson, using the Back to School Madness digi.

For this card, I used the digi only, not the background paper that comes with it.  I needed something with the primary colours for my little guy who is starting 3rd grade.

Here is a close up of this little guy.  He sure looks ready for school, doesn't he?  He definitely has enough supplies 😀  I print this image using photo paper, cut it out twice and then pop dotted the two layers together to add a little dimension.  I always print my digis on photo paper as they turn out bright and crisp.

I used the Bookworm die, from Karen Burniston, for the worm and the apple, and the Music Label die, from Amy Design, for the music notes.  I also used a 1" square eK punch to cut the fishtail end on the banners that run on the front and on the inside of the card.  The sentiment is a file from Silhouette. The patterned papers are from a very old paper pad called We Go to School from Me & My Big Ideas!

Thanks so much for stopping by today.  Before I leave, I would like to invite you to come play along with us.  Remember that The Paper Shelter has fabulous prizes up for grabs. Check out the details below ...

I do hope you will come join the fun and share your projects with us.

Graduation Card

Hello and welcome to my blog.  Today I'm sharing the card I made for my nephew's graduation from High School in Portugal.

The card base is a file from Silhouette, resized to make a 6.5" x 5" card.  I used various dies to complete the scene of this very wise owl.

Here is the list of the crafty supplies I used:
Classic Tales - Spellbinders - Large Die of the Month - March 2024
Wise Owl - Spellbinders - Small Die of the Month - March 2024
Celebrate Word - Karen Burniston
Text Banners - Marianne Design
Sunray Background Stencil - Lawn Fawn

I'm excited that I will be able to hand him this card and his gift in person 😀

The Paper Shelter #577 ~ All About Family

Hello friends! A new challenge begins today at the The Paper Shelter

Team A - our challenge this week is All About Family
(Anything for a family member)

I normally have a person in mind when I'm making a card. It makes it easier for me to come up with a design and a plan of what I would like to do.  This challenge is just perfect for me as I thought of a special young lady to give this card to 🎅 She loves Christmas and she loves fairies, so TaDa ...

I love the background that comes included in this digi set, so I just used one of my fancy dies to cut it out and then matted it using red cardstock.

The image was printed onto photo paper and cut out twice so that I could add a little dimension.  I cut out the stocking a couple more times.  I used as an extra layer on the front of the card

And the other, I used it on the inside.  I used the same mats on the inside of the card for continuation, and add the greeting which is a layered die from Karen Burniston.

That was it, pretty simple to make, but I think it looks pretty and festive and I'm hoping my little young lady will love it 😀

Now before I go, I'd love to invite you to come play along with at The Paper Shelter.  They offer a $30 gift certifcate for one lucky winner.  In order to get this prize, you must use a product from The Paper Shelter.  However, if you don't used a product from The Paper Shelter, you still stand a chance of winning 3 digis of your choice.

I hope you will come join the fun and share your projects with us.   You will find our challenge blog HERE.

The Paper Shelter #573 ~ Favourite Colour Combo!

Hello friends! Welcome back to our newest challenge at the The Paper Shelter

Team A - our challenge this week is Favourite Colour Combo

To be honest I didn't know where to start on this challenge.  I have so many favourite colour combos 😀  There are the reds, greens and golds, and the blues, silver and white for Christmas, and all the colours of Fall, and of those of Halloween and let's not forget the Valentine and Easter colours ... well, I obviously have lots of favourite colour combos, but the one that first came to mind was the aqua, sand and coral.  I love tropical colours at any time of the year, so although Halloween is just around the corner, I hope you enjoy this trip to the tropics with me.

To go with my chosen colour combo, I picked this "Pretty Mermaid" digi set from The Paper Shelter.  Isn't she just gorgeous? I used a card base die I recently got and started putting all the bits and pieces together. I uploaded the mermaid and the beautiful background, that also comes in this digi set, to the Silhouette. Next I cut out all the elements and printed a large square of the background so that I could use my dies to cut out the different mats.  I duplicated and cut out the seaweed several times.  The mermad was cut out twice and layered using foam squares.

Here is a close up of this beauty, and a few of the seaweed.

I felt like the card needed a few embellishments, so I went thru my "Tropical" stash and die cut several elements.  Here is a close up of the left side of the card.

And here is a close up of the elements on the right side of the card.  I have listed all the supplies I used, further down on this post.

I created another couple of mats for the back. I added a few left over seaweed and a shell.  The Happy Birthday was computer generated.

Crafty supplies used to make this card:
The Paper Shelter - Pretty Mermaid
Studio Light - Card Shape (cut twice and put together) - SL-ES-CD-123)
Marianne Design - Nautical Rope, Coral
Impression Obsession - Seashells (Small)
Karen Burniston - Cruise Charms (anchor)
Memory Box - Seahorses
Amy Designs- Ocean Animals, Sea Life
Cottage Cutz - Crab

Well, I don't know about you, but after making this card, I want to head off to a tropical destination somewhere for Christmas.   It's just too long to wait till Summer again.😀

Before I go, I would like to remind you that The Paper Shelter offers a $30 gift certifcate for one lucky winner.  In order to get this prize, you must use a product from The Paper Shelter.  However, if you have not used a product from The Paper Shelter, you still stand a chance of winning 3 digis of your choice.

I hope  you will come join the fun and share your projects with your favourite colour combo.  You will find our challenge blog HERE.
