Christmas Ornaments

OMGoodness! Can you believe it?  It's the first of September!   Autumn is on it's way followed closely by Christmas which is in 16 weeks!!  If you haven't started yet, now is the time to begin working on all your Christmas projects, be it cards, gifts, or whatever you have on your agenda. 

Since it's the first of the month, it's time for another challenge at Christmas Crafts All Year 'Round hosted by the Gingerbread Gals

For this challenge I made a few ornaments for my little cousins. Since my mom was visiting, I was able to send them to Portugal with her when she went back.

A little late ...

Well, maybe a "lot" late, but I would like to share the cards I made for Father's Day. I will be posting the few cards I made in the past couple of months in order to catch up.  This is part of my "try to" attitude right now :-)  If you read my previous post, then you know exactly what I'm talking about :-)

As with most occasions in my house, I have to make a card for me and one for my son. He always asks me to make a card for him to give to whom ever is celebrating something :-)

This was the Father's Day card I made for him to give Dad.

It is a Silhouette file (#192733). All cardstock is from GinaK., except the silver I used on the anchor. That one is from Recollections.

This was the card I made to give hubby. You may have already seen this card from a previous post. This was made using an svg file from Simply Crafty SVGs. For complete details on this card please go HERE.

Disc Ornament Boxes

Hello and welcome back dear friends.

I'm sharing my final project for Simply Crafty SVGs today. It's with a sad heart that I leave this amazing team, but life has a way of interfering with crafting tine and it's doing that to me right now.

This post is picture heavy, so grab a cuppa, take a few minutes and enjoy 😀

I made a few ornaments to send overseas with my mom when she leaves next month. I will share the ornaments with you on another post.  For today, I want to show you the awesome gift boxes I made for the ornaments.

 These are the 4" Disc Ornament Boxes and you can find them HERE!

Let me show you one of them in detail.

I used the round window box for all of my boxes. This file comes with the option of having a round window, a square window, or totally windowless. Because mine are going to be stuffed into a suitcase, I added a piece of acetate to the inside of the box to add extra protection, but let me tell you that they look amazing with the open window look too.

My red cardstock is from Bazzill and the patterned paper is from the Graphic 45's St. Nicholas Collection. This particular pattern is called Bells & Bows.

For the top, I made a little Christmas floral embellishment using a poinsettia from my stash and a variety of dies from Marianne Designs and a punch from Martha Stewart.

I could have gone to town decorating these lovely boxes, but since they are going to be bubble wrapped and stuffed into a suitcase, I decided to keep them CAS.

Luau Wedding

Hello and welcome back to my little piece of blog land.

The daughter of a very good friend of mine recently got married. The wonderful young couple got married in Hawaii and my friend had a Luau wedding reception for them at her house.

Here are a few things I made ...

First their gift ...

It's a wedding towel cake. Do you think I made it tropical enough :-)

It is made up of 4 bath towels, 4 hand towels and 4 washcloths. The ribbon, starfish, flowers and netting were all purchased at Michaels.

Next I made the card with their gift in mind.  I used a file from Simply Crafty SVGs, called Hanging Towel Wedding Card, and made this card. You can find the SVG file HERE.

Isn't it cute? I'm a creature of habit, so my wedding cards are always in the tones of white, pearl, silver and gold, so when I started this card using the navy and white colour combo, I wasn't too sure about the result, but I think it worked out perfectly. What do you all think?

The last thing I made were these very delicious strawberry cupcakes and pineapple cupcakes. And, yes, they were delicious, even if I say so myself :-) I'm definitely using these two recipes again in future. My friend added the fun pineapple and strawberry picks and voila, a fun plate of cupcakes on the dessert table.

Unicorn Sticky Pad Holder

Hello crafting friends.

It's my turn, today, to share a project using one of the many great svg files from

 Simply Crafty SVGs.

For my project this month, I made a little gift for my daughter :-).  She's a LulaRoe consultant and if you know LulaRoe, then you know how a Unicorn Sticky Notepad holder is perfect for her :-)

How cute is this? I love that you can personalize the colours of the unicorn. I went for these colours because they match my daughter's business colours :-)

Unfortunately, I cannot get a nice pic that shows that the horn is made of gold cardstock.

Here is a side view. As you can see it has a little stand on the back that keeps it straight up. For the purpose of stability, I used 120 lb cardstock. Mine is from GinaK. as are all the others that I used.

Hello crafting friends.

It's my turn, today, to share a project using one of the many great svg files from

 Simply Crafty SVGs.

My little granddaughter is turning 4 in a couple of weeks and everything right now is about Ariel. She loves the Little Mermaid and even asked mommy for a Little Mermaid party. To go with this theme, I chose to work with the Dragon Castle SVG. Now you might be thinking that there are no dragons in the Little Mermaid and you're right, but that's the great thing about working with SVG's, you can personalize them any way you want.

This is what you get when you purchase this file. Everything that is in the castle as well as the fearsome dragon. This SVG file also comes with a bonus in the form of a Dragon Card.

Now let me show you what I did.

Yes, it is Prince Eric's castle :-) on their wedding day. I used the print and cut feature on the cricut to do all my image cuts. This box card measures 8" by 5.75", but remember it folds flat for mailing, so finding an envelope to accommodate it is not a problem. I made it on the larger side so that I could include all the characters I wanted.

 And ... Surprise! When you open the doors, you find the Happy Birthday greeting.

Isn't is fun?

I used a brick embossing folder for the walls and added small metal gems to the doors for door knobs. On this side, you have Ariel, Eric, Sebastian, Scuttle and Flounder.

On this side you have the goofy Max.  I also tore a small edge of sandy coloured cardstock and added it to the bottom of the castle to represent a small layer of sand. I cut a few pieces of beach grass and scattered them around. The doors (front and moat) were stamped with a background wood stamp.

On each side I continued with the "layer of sand" and beach grass.

On the back you have this fun shaped panel where you can write your personal message.

Although it may look complicated, this is a very easy card to put together. Besides if you feel a little lost, all you need to do is look at one of Sandy's video tutorials and you'll be on your way to completing your project without any problems. Sandy has an instructional video on all her files,  so help is always just a click away :-)

University Graduation

Good morning crating friends.
I would like to share with you one of the reasons I've been MIA the last couple of weeks.  This was one of the happy reasons ~ my son's graduation from the University of Houston.

I have to warn you that this is a long post, so if you have the time crab a cuppa and enjoy.

I can't believe how the years have flown by.

It feels like it was only yesterday we were singing "I hope you Dance"

at his pre-School graduation and then we blinked and there he was graduating from university!

I can't begin to tell you all how very proud we are of this young man!

Of course being a crafting mommy, I had to make a few things for his graduation. So let me start by sharing the box card I made for him. I used elements from Silhouette cut files and from Simply Crafty SVG's files to put this card together. I also added a few die cuts and used the Swiss Dot embossing folder. Card stocks used are all from GinaK.

My mom also wanted a card for him so I made another box card.

This one was made using the Graduation "You Did It"  box card from Simply Crafty SVGs. If you remember, I made this same card for my son's girlfriend who is graduating next week, just with different colours and mascot elements. If you missed that post, you can see it here.

My son didn't want a party, just a nice dinner with his family.  So instead of making invitations, we decided that I would make graduation announcements. Since most of them were being mailed overseas, I had to keep it mail friendly.

I purchased a pack of linen textured card stock from Office Depot and started by printing the text.

Next I scored the cards and added the shiny red strip of textured card stock to the bottom 3rd section. Cutting and embossing the leaves, hat and diploma was very time consuming, but well worth it in the end, I think.  The grad hat and diploma are from Cheery Lynn Designs and the laurel leaves from Ali Express.  I made 32 of these 6" x 4.5" (when closed) trifold cards. I adhered a wallet size photo of Brian to the top fold on the inside.

To finish off this post I would like to share a wall decoration I made.
  I wish I had made the hat a little bigger, but to be honest with you, I could not find my 12" x 24" mat anywhere. I know it's hiding somewhere in my craft room, but I didn't have the time to search for it. So I used a full page of a 12" x 12" black card stock sheet instead. The logos were printed on glossy photo paper and all the lettering was cut out of black vinyl.
