Mother's Day

Oh boy, you're probably thinking that I'm very late sharing my Mother's Day card and you'd be right.  But life hasn't been that easy lately and has taken over most of my crafting time.  I'd still like to share with you the card I made for my mom and my Mother's Day gift from hubby and daughter.

So first onto the card I made for my mom, who is currently visiting us and made Mother's Day  even more special :-)

When I got this Stitch & Do kit (No. 61) and saw this momma swan with her babies (cygnets), it reminded me of my mom.  We are only two children, my brother and I, but my mom always kept us under her wings - safe, loved and pampered. So you see, this image was perfect for the front of my card.  I cut an additional little guy and placed him on the inside of the card. The greeting stamp is from the Cardz TV stamp set called Happy Days.

Now let me tell you about the gift I got from my hubby and my daughter.
I've wanted a fairy garden, for quite a while, to put on my patio. I think they are super cute and fun and a nice addition to the garden. My daughter recently made one to put by her front door and that got me going to make one for myself.  The timing couldn't have been more perfect. On Mother's Day, hubby surprised me with most of the goodies needed to make a fairy garden and my daughter supplied the rest :-)

So here is my little piece of garden whimsy ...

I had such fun putting it all together, and I'm so happy with the way it came out, that I'm already looking forward to my next project - a miniature mermaid lagoon :-) I have the perfect place for it, but it will be indoors.

Well, crafting friends, I hope you enjoyed my Mother's Day post even if it was late.
I have a few more cards to share with you, so look out for more posts to come within the next few days.

Wishing you all a wonderful weekend.
Hugs,

Enchanted Forest

Hello crafting friends.  I'm on the Dies R Us Inspiration Blog today sharing a whimsical card I made for a very special tween.

I started my card by looking for an enchanted forest picture on Google. Once I found the one I liked, I printed it on photo paper, traced the die around it and fussy cut it. Using a Memento Paris Dusk dew drop ink, I sponged all the edges.  Next I traced the outside of the die onto a piece of plain white typing paper, scanned it and imported it into my Silhouette software. I trace it, and offset it once to make the white mat and then again to make the card. I duplicated the last image, mirrored upwards and then weld it together. And voila ... easy peasy shaped card base that matches my dies perfectly :-)
The die I've been writing about is called Anja's Frilly Square from Marianne Designs.  Did you catch the latest sale that Dies R Us had on International dies? It was pretty awesome and I went a little crazy on my order :-)  If you missed it, don't fret too much, Dies R Us has these sales every so often and the best way to know about them is to subscribe to their newsletter.
Next, I cut out a few of the Playful Mini Fairies from PoppyStamps. I cut out 3 layers in black and the last layer in the shimmer green cardstock.  I used my 2-Way Zig glue pen to adhere all the layers together. This helps give these tiny fairies some dimension.
Lastly I cut out Anja's Flower, also a Marianne Designs die, in the shimmer navy blue cardstock and in shimmer white cardstock and put the flowers together.  I also cut a few flourishes from the Flourishes & Branches die set by Elizabeth Craft Designs to act as "leaves" for my flowers.

On the inside, I used another couple of layers of Anja's Flower and the little sprigs that come with Anja's Frilly Square and used those as "leaves". The sentiment was computer generated.

Here is a quick recap of the dies I used:
