Hello and welcome back, crafting friends.

I have a Get Well/Hang in There card to share with you today. My SIL had carpal tunnel surgery and I sent her this card to let her know that we were thinking about her and wishing her a speedy recovery. So far, it's all going well with her, so I think the card helped :-)

This was card was so much fun to put together. I was going to make a whole flower garden around the message mat, but it had to be mailed overseas, so I had to keep the flowers pretty flat.

This very cute svg file was purchased from My Scrap Chick.

The card stocks used are all from GinaK. Love her cardstock, cuts like butter both on the Cricut Explore and on the Silhouette.

Wishing you Love & Peace at Dies R Us

Hello and welcome back crafty friends.

It's my turn today to share a card on the Dies R Us Inspiration blog.  The card I made can be used for various occasions, such as birthdays, get well or just as plain friendship. You can add the special occasion greeting with your handwritten message.

I began by using a card base from Recollections. I love these packs that I get at either Michaels or Hobby Lobby (which ever store is having a good sale :-)). They come in packs of 50, measure 5.5" x 5.5", and come with matching envelopes. I added a 5.25" x 5.25" mat of teal card stock to my card base.

  

Then I got to work on my main die cut. I used a die from  Jeanine's Art, cut it and embossed it. The texture is just beautiful! While it was still in the die, I sponged it with Memento Teal Zeal ink to highlight all the embossed areas.  I also sponged the centre and added little ripples with one of the stamps from the Hero Arts Colour Layering Koi Stamp set.  I felt like I needed some sort of border around my little pond, but anything I added just made it seem too busy and took away from the main design of this die.  Inspired my a card my SIL made a while back, I decided to add a border of stitching and I think it was just the perfect touch.

Next, I went to work on my koi fish.  It brought back such wonderful memories of our beautiful koi pond we had when we lived in South Africa :-)
 I love colour layering stamps. The images become more and more real with every layer you add.  After it was all stamped, I used the matching die set to cut out the koi fish.

I wanted some water lilies to finish my card, but needed something a little bigger than the lilies that come with the koi fish set.  After looking through my stash of dies, I decided to use the water lily sets from Marianne Designs.  Now, remember that although Dies R Us don't carry Marianne Design dies on a permanent basis, they every so often, run a big sale on international dies. During these times, you will find dies from companies such as Marianne Designs, Lea'bilities, Joy Crafts and many others. To finish off my card, I carried the same theme onto the inside. I cut, embossed and sponged another Center Oval frame and another large water lily. The sentiments are all stamped using the Memento Teal Zeal ink and are all from the Hero Arts Koi stamp set.

Hang in There!

Hi crafting friends.  I made this card for a friend who is facing health issues right now.  I thought that it might brighten her day.

 

 

The image is a stamp by Wee Stamps called Fluffy, Hang in There.  I thought it very appropriate for this occasion. The mat was cut using a MS PATP punch set. The flowers are from my stock, purchased at Wild Orchid Crafts.

 

Nothing better than a prayer for encouragement, so I used this one on the inside of the card.  The corners were punched with the corner punch of the same MS set I used on the mat on the front of the card.

 

That was it, pretty simple, but I think it brighten her day a little and definitely let her know that she is in our thoughts and prayers.

Hiding in My Craft Room - Challenge No. 138 - What's Bugging Ya?

Happy Saturday everyone.  We have a really fun challenge for you today at Hiding in My Craft Room.  It's all about bugs :-)

Are these not the cutest little bees?  I coloured my image with a combination of pencils and gamsol, and copic markers. I just love how happy this card turned out to be, so I hope it will cheer up a friend that has not been feeling well lately.

 

The yellow background paper is from Heidi Grace Designs. The sentiment was computer generated and matted using My Craft Spot dies.  The butterflies were made with a MS punch. Blue cardstock and ribbon are from my stash.

 

I thought this sentiment would go well with the whole buggy theme :-)

 

Isn't this fun?  Now go ahead and make a project using a bug or bugs and link it up to HIMCR Challenge # 138.  Can't wait to see what you all come up with.  While there, don't forget to take a look at what my team mates came up with for your inspiration.

Get Well Wishes Diamond Fold Card

Good morning everyone. Today I have a Diamond Fold card to share with you.  I first saw this type of card on my friend, Laura's blog. You should go see what amazing things she's up to at The Queen' Card Castle. Another one of my great friends recently had back surgery so I made her this card to wish her a speedy recovery.

 

 

 

 

The image is a stamp from Great Impressions.  The little branch on the sides is a die cut from Impression Obsession. I trimmed a few of its branches in order to make it fit.  The papers, cardstock and ribbon are all from my stash.  I used the white mats on the sides to write my personal message.

Hang in There!

The son of a dear friend had to have knee surgery because he tore his ACL. You can imagine the disappointment of not being able to participate in the first season of high school football.  I made this card for him to cheer him up and when I found this poem, well it just made it perfect!
I used the following cricut cartridges - the leaves are cut at various sizes and some of them are popped up on pop dots and were cut using Life is a Beach, the vines are from Create a Critter and the adorable monkey is from Everyday Paper Dolls. As you can see I gave him some cute googly eyes :)
The sentiment and inside verse is from my computer. I inked the image and the inside mats with Memento's Bamboo Leaves ink. I used the same ink to stamp the leaves on the inside of the card.
I'm going to enter this card in a challenge at My Craft Spot which is to make a card using a wild animal. I don't know that my cute little monkey is considered "wild" but I think it will be fun to enter Kimberley's challenge! Pop on over to her blog - those talented ladies have some very creative cards and loads of inspiration.

Hummingbird Thinking of you Card

My very dear friend in South Africa has just had her last major surgery after a two year battle with breast cancer.  She is a survivor and has shown great courage through this entire process.  It's really hard being on the other side of the world when I so much want to be there with her and for her. So, amongst a lot of prayers, I have also made her a few cards to encourage her along her journey. Here is the one I made last night. I used a stamp that my son gave me for Mother's Day and coloured it using pencils and blended with gamsol. I went over some of the lines with my Clear Star glitter pen to add a little sparkle to the card. The purple mat is punched with an EK Success punch and embossed with the Caramelo Cuttlebut folder. The image itself is cut with the Spellbinders Labels 22 die.  It's off in the mail, so hopefully she will receive it within the next week or so.

Another Cut, Fold and Tuck Card

I'm loving the effect of this cut, fold and tuck dies from Spellbinders.  It's so easy to use and makes such pretty and elegant cards.  This paper is from my stash - coloured on one side and white on the other. I went over the white folds with my Gelly Roll Clear Star pen to add some sparkle to it.  I added some lilac gems  and a white ribbon to finish it off.

Oldie but still Goodie :)

This is one of those cards that everyone has made one, but I hadn't lol so I decided to catch up :-).  It was very simple to make but I think it pops and conveys the message clearly.  The strawberry was cut using the Hello Kitty cartridge.  Ribbon and papers are from my stack and the sentiment was computer generated. The embossing folder is Swiss Dots by Cuttlebug.

Speedy Recovery

A couple of posts ago, I posted a Good Luck card that I made for a friend, who lives in South Africa, and was undergoing surgery at the time. Well, she's had her surgery and from what her hubby told me, it all went well, so now I'm sending her this card to wish her a speedy recovery. This is the first time I think I ever made a 3-D flower card. I enjoyed making it although it is time consuming but it was very relaxing. The saddle is from Old West cartridge. The fence is made using a MS punch. I then made score lines to resemble the different wood slats. The clouds are cut using the Pooh & Friends cartridge. You can't see it very well unless you click on the pic to make it bigger, but the sentiment on the cloud says "Hope you're soon back in the saddle". She'll get a kick out of this since I now live in Texas.

Hang in There Card

Made this card for my dear friend who is still facing some difficult times ahead. When I got the Life's a Party cartridge and saw this monkey I just knew that it would match the sentiment and that I had to send her this card. Hopefully it will put a smile on her face.

Thinking of you

I've decided that I've had enough of "Get Well Wishes" cards, so I'm trying to break this "spell" by changing the sentiment. Do you think it might work? We'll see. I like how cheerful this card turned out, no wonder my favourite colour is pink :-) The inside of this card simply says " ... and wishing you a speedy recovery."

Get Well Card

I seem to be on a role making these cards and that is actually quite sad. I made this card for my sister in law, who was planning to come visit us from Holland and broke her shoulder just a couple of days before leaving.

Another Get Well Card

When I saw this sentiment stamp, I automatically thought of Snow White and the card I wanted to make for my friend. Although I had fun making this card and it all came together beautifully, it is one of those cards that I'd rather wish I didn't have to make. Knowing that it will brighten her day a little bit, was well worth it. This card not only carries get well wishes across the many miles, but all our love too.

Snow White is cut at 4.5" using the Happily Ever After cricut cartridge. The inside I coloured using watercolour pencils. I think I'm finally getting the hang of using these pencils and I'm enjoying every minute of it :-)

I have a very dear friend who is going through all the necessary procedures and treatments to fight breast cancer. I made these cards to send to her to cheer her up and to let her know that she is always in my thoughts and prayers. If you have a spare prayer, please won't you say it for my dear friend?
