The Paper Shelter #587 ~ A Cherry Birthday

 Hello crafting friends and welcome to our newest challenge at the The Paper Shelter. 

Team A - our challenge this week is Spring Colours

I love Spring as it is an indication that Summer is just around the corner. One of my favourite fruits is cherries.  Once upon a time, when I was a child, I used to go with my cousins to a cherry orchard to help pick cherries.  Not too sure how many made into the basket though, but it is one of my fond memories  😀

When I saw this cute image called Cherie Cherry, these fond memories inspired me to make this card.

I used the 6" x 6" Terrific Towers die from Made to Surprise to cut the base and all the layers of my card.  The cardstock is Bazzill and the cherry pattern paper is from Doodle bug.

Here is a close up of this cutie.  To make the background I used a Clouds stencil, from My Favourite Things, and Memento's Summer Sky ink and created the sky.  I cut out two grassy borders using a die from Precious Marieke.

On the back I made a panel for the greeting and for me to write my personal message.  The Happy Birthday die w/Shadow is from Kat Scrappiness.  To add a little more interest, I cut out a few ladybugs and scattered them around. The little ladybug die was a gift from a crafts company, and I cannot remember which one, I'm ashamed to say.  If any of you know, please leave a comment below so that I can update this post.  I blame it on old age and the fact that I forgot to write it down.  😀 I also have a gold fish and a cute lil hibiscus from this same company.

This is a 6" x 6" card and fits into a 6.25" square envelope perfectly.  It will need a little extra postage as it is not one of the normal sizes used in the US.

DRU - Challenge 143 - Spring Flowers

Hello crafting friends and welcome to a new challenge at Dies R Us.

Challenge # 143 ~ Spring Flowers

I don't tend to keep Thinking of You cards on hand, but I needed one this last weekend, so 

with our current challenge theme in mind, I came up with this card.

Although it took a bit of time to put all the small bits and pieces together, it was a lot of fun. Almost like a virtual planting your own garden :-)  Normally, when there are so many small pieces I cut them all out of white card stock and then either use blending brushes and inks to colour them in or/and I use copic markers.  Of course, if you prefer, you can cut out each piece out of coloured card stock.  In fact, it's a great way to use up all your scraps.  I adhered a few potted plants to the inside of the card to bring it altogether, and left the top section blank so that I can write my own message.

Birthday Cards Galore :-)

Hello crafting friends and welcome back to another fun challenge starting today at Crafty Gals Corner! I have several cards to share with you, all using the Spring Flowers from Fred She Said.  So sit back and maybe grab a cuppa because I have loads of pics to share with you :-)

I was running very low on birthday cards and when I saw these beautiful Spring Flowers from Fred She Said, I made 12 cards in less than a day.  That's how versatile these gorgeous images are.

The first set of cards, I used the fancy frames to make shaped easel cards. These gorgeous Spring Flowers come pre-coloured with blue shading, tan shading or no shading. The set of four flowers include Tulips, Snowdrops, Daffodils and Crocuses.  Together with the files for the flowers, there are also various pricking and outline patterns.  They are all gorgeous and so easy to put together. 

The flower images resize beautifully and I printed them on envelopes to complete the set.

For my next set of cards, I used the pricking pattern but instead of pricking it through, I went over it with a silver sharpie and then glitter glue pen. I used the outer shape outline but adhered them to a plain 5" x 5" card.  They came out beautifully and again I printed matching envelopes.

 

For this next and last set, I only used the inner shape outline. I once gain went over the pricking pattern with a silver sharpie and then over that with a Gelly Roll Clear Glitter pen. On this set, I matted each image desing on coloured coordinating card stock. And again, I printed matching envelopes.

  

  

If you're a follower of my blog, then you know by now how much I love stitching on cards.  When I was doing the pricking pattern, I thought it would be fun to try some stitching.  I'm not too sure I like it and that is why I only stitched one of them.  I think the little holes of the pricking patterned are a little too far apart so to me the stitching does not look as dainty and elegant as I'm used to, but it was worth a try :-)

Just to share some details on these cards, here is a close up pic of the shinny effect of the silver sharpie with the glitter pen over it ...

I kept the inside of the cards very simple.  I used one of the outline shapes, imported it into my Silhouette and made a coordinating mat for it.  The Happy Birthday greeting is from the Cardz TV's Let's Party stamp set stamped using Versafine Onyx Black ink for a very clean and sharp look.

And there you have it.  12 cards with matching envelopes in less than a day.  I'm thinking that these cute sets of cards will make small very handy small gifts.  I used mine for birthdays, but you really can use them for any occasion by just changing the sentiment.
