CCAYR ~ March Challenge ~ Anything but a Card!

Hello again, crafting friends.

I lost track of time and was thinking that tomorrow was the 1st, so I apologise that this post is late. 

Our challenge for you this month is to make Anything but a card. 

The prize this month is this lovely package of Christmas crafting goodness :-)

Last year, I was going to do a Disney's Micky Mouse Club House pocket letter for my little granddaughter, but time ran away from me and it never got done.  When I saw this challenge, I thought it the perfect time to make one for Christmas 2017 :-)

I searched all these royalty free images on Google and was lucky to find all the characters of Mickey Mouse Club House, Emma's favourite show at the  moment.  Oops, I did not include Pete, but he's not very nice anyways :-)

Since she is only two, I didn't include any tiny trinkets at the back of each pocket.  Instead I made a series of cards that will be used to list her favourite things. I thought this was cute.  She will be able to look back one day and see some of her favourite things at Christmas time when she was three :-)

As you can imagine it was really difficult to take a picture because of the glare bouncing off the plastic of the pocket letter holder.  So I took another couple of pics of just the cards. But let me tell you that it wasn't much better because I used photo paper to print and make these cards, so the glare was still there.  I do hope that you can have a better look at them.  If you click on each image, you will be able to see it better.

I found all of these Disney Christmas frames on Google and added a few Disney characters to the ones that didn't have any.  I also made the center pocket to where my daughter can insert one of Emma's Christmas photos.  Not only will she, one day, look back and see what her favourite things were, but also what she looked like at age 3 :-)

Pocket Letter #2 ~ Minnie Mouse Birthday

Hello and welcome back to my blog.  I have another Pocket Letter to share with you today.  I made this one for my little granddaughter who just turned one!  I thought this could be the start to her PL binder.  Something fun to page through in the years to come as they accumulate :-)

Her birthday was all about Minnie Mouse. So I tried to keep within the theme and within the colours.  I did, however, add a little spot of green here and there to give it a little pop :-) I like the way it came out. My daughter will insert a picture of her taken on her birthday. I think that this will make a cute keepsake and a treasured memory.  For this PL, I did not put any little trinkets in the pockets at the back.  It would most likely pose a chocking hazard.  Maybe, when she is a little older I will fill the little pockets with little surprises :-)

For those of you new to Pocket Letters, I wanted to show you how I present mine. I fold the page in 3 and tie a ribbon around it.  It fits beautifully into this business sized envelope which can be mailed anywhere.  In this case, it was hand delivered.  These envelopes are 9 1/2" x 4 1/8".

I'm having fun with these and I'm sure I will make a few more and share them with you.  For now though, I have a few DT projects on hand that I need to complete.

Pocket Letter #1 ~ Texas Style!

Hello bloggie friends.  I was recently introduced to Pocket Letters.  The more I look and read about them, the more I'm liking them :-)

I decided to send my very first one to my SIL, who, as you all know by now, lives in Holland. Since we live in Texas, I thought it would be fun to make one all about our home.  Of course, I could not pass up on including some real "eye candy" in the form of these hunky cowboys :-)  If you click on the picture, you will be able to see it better.

I did not write a little letter telling her all about myself, because, let's face she knows me pretty well.  I have been married to her brother for almost 30 years, so I decided to include a little note with some cowboy quotes instead.

I also believe, that you do not have to include little gifts on the back of each pocket, but I thought it would be fun since she also enjoys making cards.  I kept all the little surprises to where it would not make a very bulky package so that I could place it inside a regular business envelope (9" x 4").  In case you're wondering about the $1 bill - it's so she can buy a lotto ticket when she next visits ;-)

I hope you had fun looking through my very first Pocket Letter.  My SIL loved it, and all the little surprises.
