The Paper Shelter #555 ~ The Sky is the Limit!

Hello friends! Welcome back to our newest challenge at the The Paper Shelter

Team A - our challenge this week is Let's Get Down to Work!

When I was a child, one of the things I wanted to do when I grew up was to become an air hostess as it was called in those days :-)  I've always enjoyed flying and travelling so what better occupation, right?  Well, it wasn't meant to be, and looking back I'm very thankful and feel very blessed that I became the Executive Director of Operations & Logistics of  the "Fonkert Masion" instead, and got to spend my time with my kids as they grew up.

Still, the love of flying and travelling has remained and this image was perfect for the card I made for this challenge.  I used the Lady with Wings digi from the Paper Shelter, and made an encouragement card for a special little lady in my life.

I used a design from the Silhouette store to make my card base.  I also used the Silhouette to cut the cute image, after I had printed it onto photo paper.  I cut another 2 layers out of plain white card stock and adhered them altogether to add stability to the image.  It is rather large, it was cut at 5.5" wide.

Although I loved this card design to make what I'd had in mind, it didn't work very well, in that the back kept slipping.  So, I went back to the Silhouette store and found this pretty card stand and adhered it to the back of the card.  Problem solved 😀

Here is a close up of this cute digi.  One of the many things I love about The Paper Shelter digi sets is that each image prints very clear and crisp, and the detail is amazing!  And ofcourse, if you're one of my followers, you know that I'm not the best of colourists, so being able to use the pre-coloured digi, that comes in every set, is a big plus for me.

I adhered a couple of left over flowers to the back of the card, to add a little interest.  This is also where I will be writing my personal message, above the card stand element.

This turned out to be a 5.75" x 5.75" card that fits perfectly into a 6" square envelope.  Since it will be hand delivered, I won't have to worry about the extra postage.  You can made this card any size you want by adjusting the size both of the card base and of the printed image.  I like big cards so I sized mine up.

That's all for today.  Thanks so much for stopping by.  Before I go, I would like to remind you that The Paper Shelter offers a $30 gift certifcate for one lucky winner.  In order to get this prize, you must use a product from The Paper Shelter.  However, if you have not used a product from The Paper Shelter, you still stand a chance of winning 3 digis of your choice.

I hope my card inspired you to get crafty and that you will come play along with us.  You can find our challenge blog HERE.

Crafty hugs,

  1. This is wonderful Lena! I completely identify with your career choices. I did the same. Not that I ever wanted to be an air hostess though - I would never have made the cut anyway, standing just over 5 foot tall! You are an expert with your Silhouette, and I love the perfect card stand you found to finish it off. Love your sentiment cloud too!
