Pelican Birthday Card

Hello crafting friends and welcome back. Today I have a birthday card to share with you that I made for a friend who loves pelicans 😀  When she visited us from the Netherlands, we went to Galveston to try to find some, and we did. It was such a wonderful trip and brings back such wonderful memories.

And you know what's funny ... this year we had 3 pelican "couples", maybe, there were 6 of them, that lived on our neighbourhood's lake for a couple of weeks.  They were obviously en route to some other place, but it was great to see them right here.  Too bad my friend wasn't visiting us at the time.  Having said all this, I once had a very up and close personal experience with a pelican that kinda scared me silly.  We were swimming in the sea, and a pelican came swooping down and landed way too close for comfort.  I could have reached out my hand and touched it.  Granted there were lots of fish swimming all around us, but still.  Now, I'm not one that puts a lot of stock in having a personal bubble. I'm Portuguese, we hug, we kiss and we don't have personal bubbles, but if I had one, this pelican was right in it 😀

This was really a fun card to make. I love the stitching and I was glad that I had the variegated ocean colour floss to do it.  I think it goes beautifully with the pelican, which is a die from Cottage Cutz.  The seashells are from ioDies. the inside greeting is a stamp from Cardz TV's Good Times stamp set.  The other little stamps I used to create the underwater scene are from a stamp set by Scrappy Stamping, called Mermaids. Since this card was mailed overseas, I needed to keep the bulk to a minimum.

Well, that is all from me for today.  Thank you for stopping by and sharing a little bit of your day with me.
Stay safe and healthy.

  3. A beautiful card, amazing stitching and fabulous design. I am not a big fan of birds, so I can sympathise with your up close and personal situation with a pelican...I shudder to think about it!! Hope the work on your garden is going ok and try not to stress about the contractors too much xx

  5. Beautiful! And I love the fact that this is a gender neutral kind of card, equally perfect for a man as for a woman.
